Production Title - What was the idea behind the Creation of the Name and Logo?
Our production company is called ' Cold Blood Productions'. This name came about while thinking about the connotations of horror and death, we came up with blood and done some research to come up with cold blood which is an adjective in the dictionary meaning 'without emotion, pity, callous etc.'. With the logo itself, we decided to introduce a black background picture with the purpose to suit the idea of the Horror Genre, with the actual logo itself, we've have a gun and a knife in the background with an outer white glow with the pictures being beveled and embossed as a silhouette of a picture of a knife and a gun created using Adobe Photoshop. The idea behind this is to make these more defined and appealing towards the audience. As we focused to make this title with Horror as a stimulus, Weapons like a gun and a knife were the first things to come into mind. A knife and a gun are typical symbolic items that are used in almost any horror film there is. These weapons are usually used in the climatic parts of the film as these weapons keep the audience engaged and alert of the film’s atmosphere.
Knives are among one of the most favourite weapons used to kill in Horror/Slasher films. Knives like the picture on the right are usually long, shiny and sharp, in some cases it can be also have the blood of numerous victims. The characteristics connotes danger as it can instantly kill somebody, this includes Michael Myers in John Carpenter’s Halloween, the death of Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and Freddy Kruger in A Nightmare on Elm Street (Claw Gloves). In Horror/Slasher films, the knife was among the most common ways to kill a victim as it allowed the killers to be close and personal to the victims which can maintain the engagement of the audience.
Guns may not be as iconic as knives but they are also a commonly used weapon in Horror films such as the detective who used this same weapon on the right to kill Michael Myers. The use of guns doesn’t require close quarters fighting but it is mainly used to stop enemies attempting to kill them because they’re too dangerous up close.
